About ACORCA-COARCA

We are the first African coalition focused specifically on pooling resources and efforts to improve abortion research and its integration into policy. Our Coalition was formed in 2024 by 16 founding member institutions from East, South, Central, and West Africa.

ACORCA-COARCA's members comprise universities, research institutes and NGOs, and include experts in different types of abortion research, including incidence and safety, clinical, operational and social research; as well as groups focused on the communication of research findings for advocacy and policy impact. Its mission & vision and theory of change were developed collectively at a co-creation workshop held in Nairobi in 2024. The Coalition's ways of working are also described in its Charter.
